Like the article says, he could be out of a job soon, I certainly wouldn’t have a problem with him being unemployed.
I’ve never seen a…
Tumbleweed before, said my coworker as I dodged a giant tumbleweed on the highway on the way to the hotel.
I’m in New Mexico right now, at 5282 feet of elevation, and I tell you it’s kind of like coming home to the Antellope Valley – I got really winded running this morning because the altitude is so high. On the bright side, it’s fall in the mountains, which means it’s cool and actually raining today.
Hopefully I’ll get some work done and the project I’m here for will be a sucess.
Blogging will continue, just on a different schedule.
dear Kansas City
Your airport suck. You should be ashamed of how bad this airport sucks. I should not have to exit security to go pee. I should not have to back through security just because I had to go to the bathroom. This is shameful.
Random Revolver Musings
US Firearms makes some pretty cool blasters; check out their well, check out all their guns. “Cool” doesn’t even do them justice. What I really dig is that you can order their guns online and have them shipped to the stocking dealer of your choice, so I could in theory order one of their “snubnose” pistols and have it shipped essentially right to me.
I am sad that Taurus discontinued the Gaucho – it was a steal at less than $400. Sure, it wasn’t a Ruger or a Beretta, but it was a good entry level six shooter. At least they’re still offering their .45 Colt pump action rifle.
Looking through my gun cabinent, I realized I only have one .45 caliber revolver. Gotta fix that.
Liar, liar
Pants on fire. You know, if the LA Times editorials would even try to make it look like they cared about “the truth”, this wouldn’t be so bad, but when you say stuff like what I’ve pasted below, it just makes you look ignorant.
That’s anathema to the NRA, which wants no one to abridge gang members’ right to slaughter one another.
[NRA is] now out to block any restriction on gun freedom, even the freedom of felons and the mentally ill to buy guns.
Really? Got a source to back up that ridiculous claim or are you just repeating the standard liberal talking points? I ask rhetorically of course, because I know you’re just repeating the talking points. I do appreciate that you didn’t start your editorial with the nearly ubiquitous “Well I’m a gun owner but” statement that we see so often.
And the reason that NRA is backing McCain instead of Obama is because McCain’s past sins against the right to keep and bear arms pale in comparison to our buddy Barack. Indeed, Obama had an opportunity to display his loyalty to the Second Amendment, when members of Congress signed an Amicus brief support an “individual rights” decision in the DC vs Heller case. But instead of coming out in favor of the individual rights, Obama didn’t sign the brief – but John McCain did.
When it comes to guns, dear LA Times, Barack Obama is how we say “all talk and no walk”.
Oh hey
It’s Columbus Day. So what exactly do we celebrate on Columbus Day, poor nautical navigation techniques?
Gun Blogger Rendezvous 3 Round up
Unc has a great summary of the coverage. I really wanted to go this year, but this thing “life” kind of got in the way.
Brady Campaign Endorses Obama
But wait, I thought Obama was pro-gun because he was endorsed by AHSA? Could it be true that the founders of the nation’s largest anti-gun organization have really endorsed him?
Of course it’s true, because American Hunters and Shooters Association is nothing more than an anti-gun astroturf group.
It’s no surprise that Obama has the endorsement of two of the biggest anti-gun people in the country – say what you want, but he’s coming after your guns.
Action Airgun Update
We just finished shooting the third week of Action Airgun, and I have to tell you that I’m having a blast. This last week’s courses of fire were all “speed courses”; draw from the holster and engage a single target downrange. Now, that sounds easy until you realize that the foam targets used in Action Airgun are about the same size as a playing card – not easy to hit in a hurry. My very fastest time was 1.01 from leather to target down; and I threw away a 0.95 run because I fired a second shot and my split was 0.20, which left me with a 1.15 or something.
But the very best part about Action Airgun is that I’ve finally got Mrs. Ahab shooting, and shooting regularly. She ran a 1.56 run, which was no slouch of a run herself, and is starting to get interested in doing more shooting with me on a regular basis.
We’re 3 weeks into a 13 week season, and like I said, I’m having a great time. My wife’s interest in the sport has only led me further conclude that Action Airgun is a perfect “gateway drug” in terms of shooting sports – she’s having so much fun burning down targets with an Airsoft 1911 that the next thing you know she’ll be smoking steel with a rimfire race gun, and then soon as you know it, shooting IDPA or maybe if I’m really lucky some Cowboy Action.
Hats are off to Action Airgun for creating a shooting game that is both easily accessible for new shooters, and a hell of a lot of fun for everyone.

I should not watch Silverado
Or 3:10 to Yuma, or any of The Man with No Name movies. You see, because I love westerns, and every time I watch a good western, I end up on the internet looking up places to shoot cowboy action in Indiana (I’ve found two that are within decent driving distance), then I start looking at the pile of .45 Colt brass I have sitting around and think “I should really reload some of that”. Of course, it doesn’t end there – because I make a trip to Mernickle Custom’s website and contemplate getting a slick double gun rig that would be set up to take advantage of the fact that I’m ambidextrous…and of course, there are the guns. Oh the guns. I want to get a nickel Beretta Stampede with a 7.5 inch barrel, because Henry Fonda rocked the nickel 7.5 inch Colt in Once Upon a Time in the West; then I want to get a case-hardened SAA with the classic 4 3/4 inch barrel, but with ivory grips – because Paden in Silverado carried that gun.
And that doesn’t even get into my lust for open top Colt cartridge conversions, or building more ’58 Remington revolvers in .45 Colt conversions. Which reminds me, I need to buy some 200 grain bullets and some Trail Boss.
