Activism works, apparently

Even in California – civil disobedience and gaming the system have begun to reverse some of the anti-gun trends out there.  I’m not kidding, and they did it all without threatening to shoot anyone!

Here’s what this means for you. This and all the Calgunners’ other efforts are building the groundwork for future court cases that will determine that specific crap on California’s books right now is an unconstitutional infringement of your 2nd Amendment rights. If you want to see those cases develop and ultimately succeed, the Calguns Foundation could use your support. Have you DONATED yet?

Way to go, Calguns!

Tonight on Gun Nuts: Combat Mindset

In a sort of continuation of last week’s excellent show, tonight on Gun Nuts Radio at 9pm Eastern time, we’re going to be talking about the Combat Mindset.  This is the mental preparation that, in the event the balloon goes up, allows you to actually defend yourself and not freeze.

Tune in tonight at 9pm Eastern time for a discussion on tactics, strategy, and how to mentally prepare to defend yourself.  You can join the discussion live on the air by calling us at 347-539-5436 – and if you’re a shooting or self-defense instructor, we’d love to hear from you!  That’s tonight, at www.blogtalkradio.com/gunnuts at 9pm Eastern time.

Matt Mink in the news

If you don’t know who Matt Mink is, don’t worry – you’re not alone.  However, if you follow USPSA, you know who he is, especially after his Silver Medal in the Production Division at the World Shoot in Bali, and the fact that helped lead the US Team to their first Gold Medal in Production at the World Shoot.

Matt was recently featured by a TV station in a video about local celebs in Arkansas – it’s always nice to see the shooting sports getting positive media coverage.

Edit: Looks like the video embed doesn’t work – so hit this link to view the story on Matt Mink.

Would you cousin-humping rednecks please stop buying guns?

Obama says that he only supports “common-sense” gun laws, so if we could please stop buying all those damn gun, that would be great.

“I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment,” Obama said at a news conference. “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word.”

Meanwhile, us cousin-humping rednecks, who are generally smart enough to look at the guy’s actual record on the issue say “okay, whatever buddy” and have been buying guns in record numbers.  In fact, NICS checks in November (NICS checks are an excellent indicator of how many firearms are sold) were the highest they had ever been for 1 month in the history of NICS.

It’s not that we don’t believe Barack Obama when he says that he doesn’t want to ban our guns, it’s that when he says “we have nothing to fear” we tend to, well, not believe him.

Because of his actual record on the issues, which is that he never met a gun control law he didn’t immediately fall in love with.

The NRA is dead

So the lefties are saying.  The problem with that, while they crow about their big victory in the election, is that guns weren’t an issue.  Obama ran so hard away from the gun issue, even going so far as to have a fake pro-gun group created, that he quite successfully made firearms a relative non-issue in the presidential election.  Now, the left would have you believe that because Obama won the Presidential election, that it’s game set and match for NRA, that we’re done.  They even go so far as to make up statistics to “prove” their case.

Despite expending nearly $7 million in a national fear campaign, NRA-endorsed candidates lost 80 percent of their races against gun-control candidates.

Now, that would be true, except for the part where it’s a total lie.  Let me give you actual facts:

Of the 23 candidates for the U.S. Senate endorsed by the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund, the NRA-endorsed candidate won in at least 15 of these races, with the outcome still uncertain in Minnesota (still undecided).  Assuming Minnesota comes out as a win for NRA, that’d be 16/25, or 64%.

Of the 248 candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives endorsed by the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund, the NRA-endorsed candidate won in at least 216 of these races, with the outcome still uncertain in six races, including CA-4, LA-4, MD-1, OH-15, VA-5 and WA-8.  That’s an 84% victory rate, not even including the districts still in question.

That’s some scary paper tiger, there.  Another interesting factoid on the election is that a lot of senators and reps who had previous had poor ratings from NRA submitted responses to NRA questionaires that would have made them appear to be “pro-gun” – almost like the left is running away from the gun issue as fast as possible.

To quote Murdoc: So is the media saying the gun lobby is dead because it’s done so well or because it’s done so poorly?
