Obama on Concealed Carry
But really, he supports the 2nd Amendment. That’s why we have audio of him saying that he wants to ban concealed carry.
Accidentally scaring white people
The other day, I’m on a plane wearing my ParaUSA shirt made by Blackhawk!, which by the way is an excellent travel shirt because it’s comfy and has lots of pockets. Anyway, as I sit down in my seat, the guy next to me says “how’s it going”, indicating that he is the worst aircraft companion – a plane talker. I am normally the kind of guy who puts his headphones in a reads his book and doesn’t really talk to strangers. Luckily, my shirt saved the day.
Mr. Plane Talker turns to me and says “ParaUSA, what’s that?” I being a polite person smile and say “oh, they’re a firearms manufacturer”, at which juncture I can feel him recoil away from me. It got even better though, because the guy standing up in the row in front of me says “Oh yeah, Para – they make some neat 1911s, right?” So then he and I had a brief chat about the virtues of John Moses Browning’s design, which only further served to distance Mr. Plane Talker from me.
What’s funny is that I wasn’t even trying to scare him, I was just wearing a shirt. It probably didn’t help that on the flight I’m reading “The Combat Auto” by Bill Wilson. But never at any time was I up in his face, I was just relaxed and trying to mind my own business. Had I been antagonizing the guy, it’d be a different story; but his reaction was all his own.

Ruger LCP Recall
Ruger has issued a recall of the Ruger LCP pistols:
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE:RGR) announces that it has recently received a small number of reports from the field indicating that LCP pistols can discharge when dropped onto a hard surface with a round in the chamber. Although no injuries have been reported, we are firmly committed to safety and will retrofit all older LCP pistols (described below). The retrofit involves installation of an upgraded hammer mechanism at no charge to the customer.
As a responsible manufacturer, we want to make our customers aware of this FREE safety upgrade. All LCP pistols bearing the prefix “370” (that is, serial number 370-xxxxx) may be affected.
The obvious solution here is to not drop your gun on the concrete. Uncle mentioned that he’s still happy with his Kel-Tec, and I am similarly happy with my Beretta Jetfire.
However, if you are an LCP owner, please get your gun to Ruger ASAP for the safety fix. Ruger is providing this service free of charge, and since the LCP had the biggest launch ever for a handgun, this could affect a lot of users.
ParaUSA “GI Expert”
In a presser from Tactical Wire about Para-USA’s move to the United States, there is one blurb that caught my eye pretty quickly:
The first phase of production will start in 2008 with the assembly of the new Expert™ Series of firearms.
One of the first pistols to be assembled in Para’s Charlotte location will be the new “GI Expert” 1911 pistol. The Para “GI Expert” is an entry level 1911 pistol that will allow new marksmen to own a pistol that will give them what they need to become an Expert shot with the big bore .45.
For a guy that’s getting ready to build his first 1911, this is an intriguing concept for me. I’m eagerly awaiting this pistol to see what it looks like.

To Dan Cooper, (former) President/CEO of Cooper Firearms:
In the last couple of days, we have seen a whirlwind of activity in regards to your position on the election, your purported support Barack Obama, and now your requested resignation from Cooper Firearms.
While I have my opinions on the issue, I’d like to extend an open invitation for you to join us on Gun Nuts Radio at 9pm Eastern time November 4th to share your side of the issue with our listeners. I am willing to open my show up and present you with an opportunity to give us, the gun owners and 2nd Amendment community a look into a side of the situation that we have not yet seen.

Dan Cooper, President of Cooper Firearms has been asked to step down by the Board of Directors of Cooper Firearms in a statement released earlier today.
In response to the recent article highlighting Dan Cooper’s personal political donations, the board of directors, shareholders and employees of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc would like to issue the following statement. The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper.Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms.
The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. Daily operations will continue with the competent staff currently in place in Stevensville, MT producing the finest, most accurate rifles money can buy.
