More Kel-Tec Shotgun Fail

The Military Arms Channel got their hands on a Kel-Tec Shotgun (KSG) and tried to test fire it. Here’s a quick summary:

  • The KSG has numerous failures to feed
  • The KSG has numerous failures to unlock and cycle
  • the KSG ejects shells onto the shooter’s hand and causes injuries

So basically, it doesn’t work and as a bonus it actually injures you when you try to shoot it! Yep, that sounds about right for Kel-Tec. Another day, another piece of Kel-Tec garbage. This is my shocked face.

    1. Actually, if you look closely at this “Kel Tec KSG shock test” video you posted claiming that the other guys “must have been a lemon” you’ll see the weapon malfunctions in BOTH videos, over and over. The difference is the video you provided, the operator is better at working past the malfunctions, what we called “S.P.O.R.T.S.” when I was in the Army. Regardless of which video I see, I see an unreliable weapon system that You couldn’t PAY ME to own one, or trust my life to. Just because that guy in the 2nd video is better at working the action of the weapon doesn’t mean shit if it fails to cycle at just the wrong moment and the bad guy ends up killing the good guy.

  1. But it looks so Kewl! It has to be the greatest shotgun Evah! if it looks that kewl!

  2. Kel-Tec is the Bob Dylan of gun manufacturers.

If we could get Ruger to do for the KSG and the RFB what they did for the P3AT we could have the concept, the quality and the availability.

  3. Edit: After loking again at reviews, now they are mixed, particularly by nut’n fancy on you tube, who says it sucks. I take it with a grain of salt, because he insists the keltec KSG is awesome.

  4. They had problems like this at the SHOT Show Media Day this year, however they did not have a foregrip installed. I had to grip the pump action as far forward as possible, otherwise my hand would get caught up and interfere with cycling. I also found that the action had to be forced during pumping to ensure it got all the way back to feed another shell – and even doing that correctly was not a guarantee.

I did not have the injury problem however, so that one was new to me.

It is a neat concept, and I wished it worked. It would be a great home defense shotgun if it did.
