Suicide at West Coast Armory

A 50 year old man from Bellevue, Washington shot and killed himself during West Coast Armory’s Right on Target class Sunday evening.

Bellevue police spokeswoman Carla Iafrate confirmed reports that Bellevue PD had responded to the shooting and the death of Brian J. Parry was a confirmed suicide. There were no other injuries at the time of the shooting. Parry allegedly shot himself in front of multiple witnesses, including children, who were attending the Right on Target gun class at West Coast Armory, which is an entry level handgun safety and training class.

Okay, time to take my reporter hat off and put my editorial hat back on. I’ve reported in the past on suicides at gun ranges, but this one hits especially close to home for me. Before moving to South Dakota, WCA was my home range. I knew all the staff, shot there on the reg, and in fact I was leaving the range after attending a class the very Sunday this happened. It’s tragic, especially for the staff members and innocent families that had to witness this jerkoff’s final act of selfish indulgence.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families attending the class and our friends who work at WCA who will have to deal with this incident physically and emotionally.
