New Ammo Review

At the Shooter’s Log, I have a review of the BVAC .40 S&W 180 JHP ammo that I’ve been using in all my training and competitions for the last month.  I’ve fired over 2000 rounds of this through the Ruger SR40 and a S&W M&P .40 Pro Series, and I honestly have to say that I’m really happy with how this ammo has performed in my guns.

  1. “Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chronograph available…”
“I did not shoot the BVAC ammo off a bench…”

Its not really worth reading the article then. You can do better than this.

    1. Bench resting pistol ammo is a pretty ridiculous procedure. If I can shoot a sub 2 inch group standing offhand then the ammo is going to produce more than sufficient mechanical accuracy for any application outside of Bianchi Cup.

I do regret not having my chrony up and running, but thems the breaks. But I do stand by my assertion that bench resting pistol ammo is largely ballistic masturbation.

      1. I can see that. Compared to my shooting ability a ‘Caleb group’ and a ‘benchrest group’ are pretty much the same thing.

It was just frustrating to read about your 5 parameters, see you note the two subjective ones, and then proceed to replace at least one of the objective ones with a subjective measure.
