We talk a lot about Team Glock and Team S&W here at Gun Nuts, and a lot of that is due to the fact that they do a lot to promote the shooting sports and are highly visible teams. This year however there is definitely a third horse in the race in the form of Team Sig.
Sig didn’t have a competitive team for quite some time, but then last year after leaving the Army they landed Max Michel Jr., who is now the captain of an excellent squad. In addition to Max you have the following team members:
- Matt Cheely
- Jason Koon
- Erik Lund
- Rodney May
Now, it’s great to have lots of high-speed, low-drag trigger pullers wearing your team jersey, and Sig has that now. What remains to be seen is if they can promote them well. Both Glock and S&W blow up my inbox with press releases every time they win something, and that’s how it should be. The whole point of having a shooting team is good PR, right? Personally, I hope that Team Sig shoots well…and is supported well at the corporate and marketing level by Sig itself.
As an aside, I got to meet Matt Cheely at the recent Indiana USPSA Prod/SS/Revo match where he was shooting Single Stack. Great guy, fun to talk to, and an all around excellent shooter (of course).
