That’s right, the first of the three new offerings from Ruger is probably the one that will get the most attention, it’s the Ruger SR9c – a compact version of their very popular SR9 pistol. From Ruger’s press release:
The SR9c compact pistol weighs in at 24 oz. and features an overall length of 6.875″, a height of 5.00″, and the same slim 1.27″ grip width as the full-sized SR9. It comes with two magazines that provide options in both capacity and grip size. The standard magazine holds 10 rounds and features a flat bottom butt plate; a finger grip extension floor plate is also included. The second magazine features a grip adapter and holds 17 rounds, instantly transforming the smaller, compact grip into a full-sized 9mm grip. The 3.50″ barreled pistol features an integral accessory rail that accommodates most lights and lasers.
The SR9c compact pistol utilizes the same adjustable, high-visibility 3-Dot sight system as its full-sized predecessor, setting it apart from many compact pistols that rely on fixed sights.
The SR9c is available in 2 finishes, brushed stainless and blackened stainless, both of which also have new forward cocking serrations to make it easier to run the slide on the smaller weapon. Ruger says that the new SR9c will be shipping on January 15th to distributors and gunshops. MSRP for both models is $525, but the guns should street for lower than that.

Still The thumb safety is obviously there, and I suspect the Mag disconnect is still present.
I must say in a world burgeoning with plastic carry guns the SR-9 is the one that seems the least impressive to me.
Hell the S&W M&P9c is about the same size and weight, but holds more rounds in the flush-fit magazine.

Come on Ruger… make a 9mm kel tec clone like you did with the P3AT… i.e. LCP

I really wanted ruger to make a nice gun. I wanted a tin can shooter that i could carry in my pants pocket. I will stick to the Kahr p9. What I really wanted was Ruger to make a kahr p9, but with the features of a sig p232.
The best feature of the SR9c is the THICKNESS or should I say thinness the measurement that they shout is the slide width not the width over the safeties….. the slide width is only .95, that is the dimension that mostly contributes to concealablity. The Glock 26 is 1.18 wide at the slide…… that’s almost .25 of an inch thicker then the SR9c…… and that is a lot…..
I currently own an SR9 and short of the trigger, it’s the best 9mm I’ve shot. I was getting ready to order a ghostinc trigger for it to smooth it out, but it looks like I’ll just wait and see how the compacts’ trigger is. If you want a tin canner, try the LCP. Apples to oranges.
I have an SR9 and an SR9c.
The SR9c seems like a good gun and I like it even more than my full size, which surprised me quite a bit. The trigger on the c is better (lighter pull & smoother), and the balance seems quite good after shooting 100 rounds with it yesterday. It feels just fine in-hand. It is certainly not a pocket pistol (almost), and Ruger does not advertise it as such, but for holstered CC (or jacket pocket) it is very nice. Pistol size terminology seems to be a touch confusing in the gun world: compact; micro; pocket.
It is not at all like the LCP, which I also shoot, which is a very smooth-lined, very small unit that fits even a shirt pocket.
