But I want: Wilson Combat Carry-Comp. Unlike some people, I’m a big believer in ported/compensated guns for self-defense and carry. I’ve never really bought into the canard about how a comped gun will ruin your night vision, because the thing is already shooting out a foot long column of fire.
In fact, in his book The Combat Automatic, Bill Wilson himself said that if he knew he was going to get into it, the gun he’d want is his Wilson Combat Accu-Comp LE.
The Carry-Comp gun linked above starts life as a Commander sized gun, and then with the addition of the compensator on the front of it, becomes just a little bit larger than a full-sized 1911. The obvious benefit of a compensator is the reduction in muzzle flip for faster follow-up shots on the target, which in a self-defense situation is a key thing to have. I would love to have one of these in .38 Super to pair with my full sized Accu-Comp gun, but unfortunately I don’t have 3k to drop on a handgun. Although if I did, this would be near the top of my list.
