H-S Precision releases statement on Lon Horiuchi controversy

H-S Precision has received comments relating to individual testimonials in our 2008 catalog. All of the testimonials focused on the quality, accuracy and customer service provided by H-S Precision.

The management of H-S Precision did not intend to offend anyone or create any type of controversy. We are revising our 2009 catalog and removing all product testimonials.

Now, this is my personal opinion, and nothing else, but honestly, that feels less than sincere to me.  Compare that to Jim Zumbo, who not only recanted, but went and learned black rifles with Ted Nugent, or Cooper Firearms, who asked their director (and company founder) to step down.  To me, this reads like a “sorry your feelings got hurt” apology.

  1. It’s worse than just a “Sorry your feeling got hurt” apology. There is NO mention of the ONE specific testimonial that caused people grief. They are passing the whole thing off as “Gee, since people were complaining about all of our testimonials we’ll stop printing any of them.”

Not anywhere even vaguely similar to “We regret our error in using Lon Horiuchi’s testimonial, and we’ll NEVER do it or anything like it again. We used it with the best of intentions, but now realize what a great mistake it was and we’re sorry that our actions were offensive to so many people.” which is what they should have said.
