IDPA Partnering with First Shots program

From NSSF I find that at the IDPA National Championships this weekend in Pennsylvania, IDPA in conjuction with the excellent First Shots program to help introduce new shooters to the handgun sports.

When competitors gather during the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) National Championships this coming weekend, they’ll notice something different about this year’s event. IDPA headquarters, in partnership with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), will be hosting two First Shots seminars for Guthsville, Pa.-area residents.  Also, IDPA is encouraging its members across the country to learn more about First Shots and get their local clubs involved. A full-page ad in the national championship match book encourages ranges to “Host a First Shots” seminar.

This is the kind of outreach that I get very excited for; when the shooting sports get directly involved with bringing new shooters into the game, everyone benefits.  Bravo to IDPA for working with First Shots to make this happen.  Also, good luck to everyone shooting the national championships.  I couldn’t make it this year, but next year, after I’ve been practicing for a year, will be a different story.
