Remeber Obama’s Truth Squads?

Original post here about how Obama has hired police officers and District Attorneys to “go after” people who say mean things tell the truth run false ads about him.  Well Gov. Blount of Missouri doesn’t like that so much, and says so in his official statement:

This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of
Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to
Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights.  The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family.  Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility.  When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting
Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

BUUUUUUUURN.  I am extremely glad that someone is attempting to draw attention to Obama’s intimidation tactics here; essentially what the St. Louis officials are doing is attempting to deprive people of their right to free speech under the color of law, and I’m 100% certain that doing that is well, illegal.

I’ve been arguing a lot lately about Obama with a lot of different people – many people still seem to believe that he’s “above the fray” and won’t “stoop to playing dirty”.  Well, if you looked up a definition of “dirty politics”, I’m pretty sure that using law enforcement and public officials to squash dissenting opinions would qualify as dirty pool.

I know that this is quite essentially preaching to the choir here – but it’s important that this sort of behavior not get swept under the rug.  Can you imagine the utter outrage you’d see in the media if John McCain had hired cops and DAs to prosecute people for running “false or misleading” ads?  It would be the end of the world, the NYT would be SCREAMING about the 1st Amendment, the HuffPo would have a collective apoplexy, and DailyKos would be screaming for a rope.  But when The Anointed One does it, no one seems to care, and that’s unnaceptable.

  1. I’m not afraid to say it; anyone who attempts to arrest me for speaking my opinion about Obama, or anyone else, will be met with deadly force.

I don’t think that is going too far, either.
