Without context, my guess is that someone got overzealous with the copyright and trademark claims. Like basically everyone, Cafepress probably tends to assume in the favor of the person with more money.

I once put up a snide bumper sticker about how Osama bin Laden and Michael Moore were both actively campaigning for John Kerry. It was pulled rather quickly because I could not prove that I had permission of these public figures to use their likenesses.
I wrote back asking if that was the case, what about all the pro-Kerry and pro-Michael Moore stuff with their pictures? Unless they were mostly concerned about Osama bin Laden’s right to control where his likeness was used.
