Carrying at NRA Meetings

Just got this email from NRA regarding security for John McCain’s speech at Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum on Friday the 16:

By mandate of the U. S. Secret Service, no firearms will be  allowed in Hall A of the Kentucky Exposition Center, the location of the  Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum, on Friday, May  16.        Please be prepared  to go through security screening to enter the venue. We look forward to  seeing you at this outstanding event!

This wasn’t NRA’s decision, or Sen. McCain’s decision – it seems that the Secret Service is pretty intractable on this issue.

You can still carry on the convention hall floor, just not if you’re going to be attending the Leadership Forum on May 16th.

  1. Think they’ll make arrangements for someplace to check weapons at the door to Hall A? Lockers, or something?

I know I personally would gladly pay $5 to rent a small, supervised locker for a couple of hours than leave my weapon in a car or worse, a hotel room.

  2. Somehow, I doubt that the Secret Service is terribly concerned about our carry guns.

Maybe NRA would, but on such short notice it would be difficult.

  3. Does anyone see the irony in this?

A group of people that is supporting the 2nd has to disarm to attend one of their functions.

    Anyone?

  4. That would be pretty funny actually, but the fact is that he’s still about 20 orders of magnitude better than Hillsy or St. Obama.

That being said, there are probably going to be a lot of people at the Annual Meetings that aren’t carrying anyway.

  5. “Celebration of American Values”

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha…

  6. So where do the Secret Service agents store their guns during this event?
