American Hunters & Shooters

I’m really enjoying watching Bitter and Sebastian take the AHSA out behind the woodshed for a good beating, especially in light of AHSA revealing their true motives with the recent entry on Daily Kos.

I want to add my two cents to the conversation, not because I want to pile on or anything, but because I have one question directed towards the legitimacy of AHSA as a “pro-hunters/shooters” group.  This is the mission statement on their website:

AHSA vigorously defends the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, promotes safe and responsible gun use, and supports reasonable public policies, so that all Americans can enjoy the benefits of this crucial and historic liberty.

“A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed”

These 27 words protect the inviolate rights of Americans to own and use guns. These words are sacred to the American Hunters and Shooters Association, as are the ideals and principles they stand for.  Protecting our homes, preserving our liberties, hunting, and sport shooting are constitutionally protected American values that AHSA vigorously defends.

Based on that, I have one question – where was your booth at SHOT ’08?  There were so many pro-gun and pro-hunting organizations there that it was hard to keep track of all of them, but I don’t remember your booth.  Maybe I had missed it, so I went back and checked my list of exhibitors at SHOT ’08, and I didn’t see AHSA on the list.  Hell, even Students for the Second Amendment had a table there, and they’re an entirely volunteer organization.  Surely an organization as committed to “vigorously defending” our rights as hunters and shooters would want to be represented at the largest industry event in the shooting and hunting world.

So, where were you?  Did you miss your flight?  I mean, it just doesn’t make any kind of logical sense as to why AHSA wouldn’t want to represented at SHOT ’08…unless of course you’re not really interested in actually getting involved in the shooting, hunting, and outdoors industry.

  1. Well, maybe they didn’t have the budge for a booth… or any volunteers to staff it…

I think there are state-level gun organizations larger and more influential than AHSA.

  2. What surprises me is how many people they seem to have fooled, where it is obvious to see that they are fakes.

  3. If they’d had a booth – or even a table – a lot of people would have come around just to kick their lying asses.
