Explain this one to me

So, you work for McDonalds. Someone purporting to be a police officer calls your MickeyD’s and says that he’s investigating a claim of a stolen purse. Over the phone, he orders you to remove your clothes AND YOU DO.

So, you of course sue McDonalds for 200 million.

Now, here’s what I don’t get. Sure, the girl’s manager probably should have uh, stopped the search, and realized that the guy on the phone was a crank caller, but seriously, what kind of idiot do you have to be to consent to a strip search OVER THE PHONE?

  1. Idiot, or genius? Wanna bet said mo-ron settles for more than a couple grand?

Reading that story, there’s more than one idiot there.

  2. I heard about this story, or one like it. Basically, the guy on the phone (in the story I heard) told a couple of managers to sexually assault the girl in the name of justice, and they did.

  3. So she is stupid enough to be strip-searched over the phone, but smart enough to know how to get the most money for her efforts? Yeah, I believe that one. Sounds like a suit-chasing lawyer caught wind of the situation and decided to help the poor girl out.

I, for one, have no doubt that she will get every last penny, and then some… so which is worse, her, her lawyer, or the judge who decides so?

  4. Sadly, this happened just down the road from me. I am heartened by the fact that I am a hillbilly and these folks are in a “Metro” area. If this had happened back in the mountains, the manager would have been cold-cocked.

  5. You don’t have to be an idiot if your whole life has been spent being taught you have no rights and are to immediately obey any authority figure, real or not.

This is the fruit we are harvesting for allowing our liberties to be suborned by the state.

  6. Straightarrow’s right on the money. When you raise an nurture sheep from birth, you shouldn’t be surprised when they display disturbingly sheeplike behavior as adults.

This also serves as a prime example of why companies place some of the ridiculous warning labels on their products that they do. There are actually people around who are stupid enough to need them.
